Apple has issued invitations to a media event slated for next Wednesday, March 2nd, with imagery of the iPad behind a calendar with the date of March 2nd. This of course, suggests that the event will be focused on the iPad, and could very well be where Apple announces the much-rumored iPad 2.

Apple on Wednesday sent an invitation to media inviting them to a special event on March 2 in San Francisco, Calif.

According to the invitation received by The Loop, the event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts at 10:00 am. This is the same venue Apple has used to introduce a number of products in recent years.

If I had to guess, there will be an iPad announcement, but I suspect we’ll hear something about iOS 5.0 (Apple has been introducing new version around the same time each year since 2008), and maybe even more information on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. This is purely speculation on my part however. Check back here at iSource on Wednesday for updates.
